Hope

I have been depressed and despondent in my life and it is always because of what is happening to me or a loved one or family member or in society. When you weigh this fact against the good and bad times in my life you would think that bad times equal depressed times and good times happy times but that is not always the case because of the mindset or the established set of attitudes held by someone. A mindset is a set of assumptions, methods, or notations held by one or more people or groups of people. A mindset can also be seen as arising out of a person’s world view or philosophy of life.

Recently I had to put my wife of 49 years in a care home because of an advanced case of dementia. On the website, they give their reasons for the exact date and how they arrived at it. Harold Camping is president of Family Stations, Inc., a California-based religious broadcasting network, including more than 150 outlets in the United States, as well as a Web site. Camping host the Open Forum program on Family Radio stations and is the driving force behind the date setting of Judgment day and the return of Jesus to the earth. You might remember him from his book named 1994 in which he proclaimed that Christ’s return might be on September 6, 1994. In that publication, he also mentioned that 2011 could be the end. He did put a disclaimer in his book that “the possibility does exist that I could be wrong.” Continue reading
